Alternative Wine Varieties

 Wine drinkers are familiar with most of the main grape varieties, such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz, etc.   Increasingly though wineries and grape growers are planting other varieties of grapes traditionally grown in Spain, Italy or France.  How do we know what they are like, and what type of food to enjoy with them?  How do we navigate through the hundreds of wines at our local retailer? If you have a working knowledge of these 'mainstream' wines, then this new snapshot night is just the ticket!   Come along for a fun filled entertaining & informative session with the lower north shore's resident wine person! We'll taste unusual white and red wine varieties guaranteed to stimulate the taste buds, and generate lots of discussion. Think Arneis, Fiano, Vermentino, Tempranillo and much, much more!  Basic wine knowledge will ensure you thoroughly enjoy this new offering!

White Wine Snapshot

Join us for an illuminating few hours as we taste delicious Premium white wines. This 'snapshot' is designed for you to learn the basics about white wine. You'll enjoy trying a cross-section of the most popular varieties and pick up clues of how to team them with your recipes - be it a simple meal or elaborate dinner party. The styles you will want to drink this year, how they match with food, and what to look for at your local wine specialist bottle shop. Light nibbles included.

 Red Wine Snapshot

This one night snapshot will give you an overview of the broad range of wonderful reds, from light rose styles, through to complex full bodied wines. We’ll explain how to match them with food be it a simple meal, or elaborate dinner party. The red wine varieties and styles you will want to enjoy and share, plus tips on buying wine and an overview of red wine making. Cost includes light nibbles.
